Importance of Buddhist Cultural Heritage in Pakistan

Pakistan is among the countries that have a rich historical and cultural heritage of Buddhism and the government is trying to attract international tourists on this basis.

The Department of Archeology organized a function in Islamabad on Friday which was attended by ambassadors from some other countries including Nepal.

Aftar Rahman Rana, Managing Director of Tourism Development Corporation in Pakistan, said in a conversation with Independent Urdu that around 500 million people are followers of Buddhism in different countries of the world and the history of Buddhism is inherited in Pakistan. It is very important for them.

Aftar Rahman Rana says that it is an effort of the government to highlight the heritage of Buddhism in Pakistan for the promotion of tourism to the world, especially in the countries that follow Buddhism.
